Cry Havoc Online Issue 1
Rackham changed the format of cry havoc online to be a monthly release. Cry Havoc Online Issue 1 is the first of the larger monthly magazines. First off there is a great fluff piece on the Karman AFVs. There are some hints as to strategy in there too so its definitely worth a read. Next up are the details on storm arachnids which gives some good background and the stats for those of you that want to make some of your own at home to play with.
New Scenarios
There is a new scenario Class of Snow which looks like it will be a lot of fun. You can get it here. In addition Awakening of the Machines is another interesting looking scenario involving 5000 RP for the therians vs 2500 assault, the catch is ALL of the therian forces are Reinforcements!. Both scenarios have been added to the scenario section of at-43 addict.
Upcoming Releases
First off there are grim golem overseers coming to the resin kit line. The decision of creating resin kits for the missing models is likely due to the cost of producing injection plastic molds. You’re going to have to paint these guys up yourself. An interesting find was made on rackhams servers. The release plan for the next few waves was discovered and what is especially eye catching is that Wendigo and Yeti Medics are being released in resin. This likely means that Karmans are going to receive a balancing by being able to get an additional medic in their type 2 units.
More on Errata after the break.
Errata
The errata section has a number of clarifications that are much needed for AT-43.
Shooting
The player chooses the type of weapon used to resolve the
shot. A type of weapon is the whole of the weapons sharing
the same name and same characteristics. All the fighters in
the unit equipped with the chosen weapon resolve their shots
simultaneously according to the following steps
This means that heroes in a unit that have the same weapons as another model in the unit must fire at the same target as that weapon profile. If the hero has different weapons they are free to engage a different target. This means that having a hero with a weapon that is different from the special weapon / regular soldiers becomes more of an asset as it lets you engage another target separately (Guru Lucius im looking at you).
Karmans
K-Units are getting the Stability ability which makes them immune to grounding, this is a welcome change as very often the K’s found themselves lying on the ground for an entire battle.
Other Changes
The rest of the changes are worth reading but those are the major ones. star/steel trooper bunkers have their costs changed, Bunkers have 17 armour, 4 structure points 2 roof points and Zviezdas only gain +1 accuracy to their direct fire weapons.
In Closing
I really like the new format, sure we have to wait a month between releases but the ammount of material in the release more than makes up for it. I’ve only gone into the at-43 stuff as CHO Issue 1 contains just as much Confrontation information.
Agreed but theoretically the new CHO 1 in the frum was not all the information im stillwaiting to have it on my mailbox….
I still think also that more info about “new” armies Cogs and Oni is in order…
You’re right there could have been more information on Oni We’ve got a lot of details come out about the Cogs, but we’ve only been teased with a few production pictures of Oni.
Not getting CHO in my inbox was also a hassle. Hopefully they get those problems ironed out for next month.
Nahh! I received the new CHO in my mailbox today…. nothing really new…pity, but i expect the next issue to be mroe about the Cogs
