    Indeed it is a good move and I hope they do that for the rest of the armies. *but* hopefully they won’t make the boxes too self sufficient or else you’ll have people *just* buy the army boxes and nothing else. Kinda like the WHFB battalion boxes, these armies hopefully will be the beginning and not an end.

    If they are making a profit off the boxes it kinda confirms that the minis at the current price point were a wee bit jacked up in price, tho.

  2. Vastatum says:

    Yeah its hard to say whether these boxes are priced as a loss leader or not. I will definitely be picking them up though, I don’t have a DY yet and I want some cogs to play around with. At 70 MSRP (likely available for less than 60) There is no way I could pass this up.

  3. Wolfen says:

    Same here… I need the DY anxdc maybe some more Kasnye are good… and the COgs look great… for 70 USA I can order form Europe and still be cheaper…GREAT

  4. Nevan says:

    Being in the US, this will be a great buy since I play Red. Not to mention I might just pick up the COG, since I like what I’ve seen of that so far.

  5. This is very good news indeed! Thanks to the AT-43 Addict!

    The cog fighters are taller than the containers, making them quite impressive on the battlefield. Ironically, the container and walls are useless for the cogs, since it provides no cover to them (special cog rule) and it does not block of sight, being smaller than the fighers. It does provide high ground for shooters, though.

    Also, after trying the units of the Cog Army Box with the Easy AT-43 software, it appears that with that box’s composition, only the generic Cog army profile can be selected as a faction :

    - All heroes belong to the C-Naps faction, which can only be used with a generic army or the C-Naps faction;
    - The first section slot required (!) for a C-Naps army is *** Infantry (e.g. Hunters), which are not included in this set.

    Furthermore, it is infortunate that no unit can include special weapon bearers, which are only available to the cogs at full unit numbers (for a very high AP cost).

    Nevertheless, I’ve got to get my hands on those!

    I find it interesting that the RB starter box is basically a 2,000 point vanilla platoon build. So maybe the Cogs starter is the same? 8 troops, 3 heroes and 2 AFVs = 2k army for Cogs, which means for once the Karmans won’t find themselves heavily outnumbered on the battlefield :D

  7. MechaBeast says:

    Ugh Im torn. Ive wanted to play the cogs as my second army as soon as i saw their infantry but i just dont agree with the design of their 2 afv’s and high point cost low numbers. Just look at all you get with the red block army. Sure they cant hit the broad side of a barn but the special weapons are maxxed out plus officers and medics/engies/mechanics and there is still a lot of clearance out there.

  8. Vastatum says:

    I know how you feel about Red Blok. I love playing them because of how survivable they are. Throw a ton of models at your opponent and some of them are bound to get into shooting range. The Cogs look like their units will be composed similarly to the Karmans. As for look its definitely one of those love it or hate it things. I really like the infantry but really dislike the type *** AFV.
